Hi, I’m Barkha — a passionate technology policy enthusiast, community builder, and advocate for a more inclusive digital future. With over six years of experience in technical documentation, policy research, and grassroots engagement, I work at the intersection of technology, policy, and people.
As the Founder of the India Internet Research Organisation (iiro.in), I am deeply committed to advancing research, advocacy, and dialogue on critical issues such as cybersecurity, digital rights, data governance, and online safety. Through IIRO, I aim to create spaces where diverse voices—especially from underrepresented communities—can contribute to shaping India’s digital future.
My journey in Internet governance has been shaped by global engagements as an ICANN Fellow, APSIG Fellow, and Youth IGF (YIGF) Organizer, where I’ve worked to empower young people to meaningfully participate in Internet governance and policy processes. I have also played a key role in establishing Local APIGA India, an initiative dedicated to nurturing the next generation of digital leaders.
Professionally, I wear many hats—technical writer, consultant, and tech policy advocate—helping organizations translate complex technical issues into accessible insights for informed decision-making. My expertise spans server infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital inclusion, and the broader Internet ecosystem.
Beyond formal roles, I am driven by a belief in the power of community. Through ThoughtsCloud.in, my blog, I engage in conversations around technology’s societal impact, advocating for ethical, rights-based approaches to digital innovation.
When I’m not immersed in policy work, you can find me exploring new collaborations, mentoring youth, or reflecting on the evolving relationship between technology and society.
Let’s connect! I’m always excited to hear from fellow changemakers, collaborators, or anyone curious about building a more open, secure, and inclusive Internet. Reach out to me at [email protected], or you are at right place to explore more about my work and projects.
